“If I can help one person, and that person can help another person, then it becomes a change.” – Dr. Kakenya Ntaiya
This is what Just One Africa is ALL about! The difficult situations and deep challenges in life can seem so impossible to overcome and high mountains of needed change are often met with uncertainty of where to start. BUT change does come when JUST ONE person (you and me), start where we are, with what we have, and do what we can, even if it is for JUST ONE person.
A snowball effect begins when that person’s world is changed and they in turn go and help another person, and that person is empowered to go reach other. The change is multiplied. When we started Just One Africa we were overwhelmed at the immense need so we started with JUST ONE person, the one in front of us. We can all do that. When we work with that person, we can move on to the next, and the next, and the next.
Partnering with our truly amazing Kenyan local leaders we see how the change that started with JUST ONE person has multiplied and continues even today as they are empowered and supported to be who they were created to be. This is the vision of who we are. We are seeing it become a reality through each life that continues to be impacted through the sustainability projects we are working on, the orphans and other vulnerable children that have access to education, medical care, food and clean water, a safe place to live and grow, and love that nurtures their precious hearts. Other agents of change come through hygiene and sanitation training plus clean water that is provided through the water filters that are distributed, resulting with a internal desire for change that is coming in communities as lives are transformed one by one.
We all can help someone and in the process our lives are also changed. Sometimes we are the ones in need of help, but our Kenyan brothers and sisters have taught us a great lesson by their example that even in that place we can still extend ourselves. We need each other. Change comes when we choose to do the right thing!
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
